Due to the high humidity of the air, a water film will be formed on the wheels or the brake rail of the reducer, which will reduce the friction coefficient when the reducer is braking. Since the thickness of the wheel is smaller than the minimum value of the standard wheel, the actual opening size of the reducer may be close to or smaller than the thickness of the wheel, resulting in the failure of the braking force of the reducer on the rolling stock.

The braking force of the reducer is inversely proportional to the wheel radius. The larger the wheel radius, the smaller the braking force. The braking force of the reducer is proportional to the coefficient of friction. When there are lubricating substances such as grease on the surface of the wheel, the friction coefficient will be greatly reduced, and the braking force of the reducer will drop sharply or even be lost.

According to on-site surveys of various vehicles, the probability of vehicles with thin and large wheels is currently extremely small, and oil tankers or polluting vehicles sometimes appear. Therefore, solving the speeding situation of the dumping vehicle under special climate and oil tanker working conditions can greatly reduce and prevent the possibility of speeding of the dumping group. The brake rail of the retarder is usually processed from ordinary steel rails. Because the surfaces of the friction pairs are generally uneven and have a certain roughness, the surfaces of the two friction pairs are in direct contact when subjected to force, causing friction, and the friction coefficient μ is greater than 0.1.

When the wheel is in the condition of oil pollution or rain or snow, a layer of oil or water film is formed on the surface of the brake rail and the wheel. Since the parameters of the wheel cannot be changed, the friction performance between the friction pairs can be improved by changing the brake rail material, that is, a new type of functional material brake pad is designed to form a friction pair with the wheel. The brake pads of the new functional material are composed of composite materials and specially designed metal materials.
